L.A. Metro Purple Line Extension and other improvement projects

On a recent visit to Los Angeles I was pleasantly surprised to see construction taking place on the L.A. Metro Purple Line Subway Extension that will bring underground heavy rail mass transit to Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood.

Here are pictures of construction on the first station to be built -- Wilshire/La Brea:

But the Purple Line Extension is just one of many Metro projects either recently finished or currently under construction.

For example, here are pictures of the recently completed Wilshire Boulevard bus only lanes -- five miles of new bus rapid transit lanes to reduce congestion during rush hour.

And upon exiting the Universal City/Studio City Red Line station, I saw construction of a pedestrian bridge to make it easier for pedestrians to get to Universal Studios without having to cross busy Lankershim Boulevard.
